The Motocross Advanced Coaching Academy not only prides itself on developing riders, but also new coaches.
In season 2007, MACA supported the continued development of three coaches namely; Justin
Carafa, Jarrod
Long and Kristy
Gillespie. All three racers / coaches have a great deal of knowledge and expertise.
Justin Carafa is a former member of the Yamaha Junior Development Team and multiple State and National title holder. Justin has stepped up to the Pro Open class on the National Circuit and competes in both Motocross and Supercross events. In 2007 Justin placed 11th overall in the National Supercross Championships and is now the current Victorian Senior Motocross Champion. Justin is now focusing on success in the 2008 race season, both on home soil and overseas.
Jarrod Long is also a former member of the Yamaha Junior Development Team and hit the senior ranks with force in 2006 securing 2nd overall in the National Cup senior development series and will contest the 2007 National u19’s Championship. Jarrod was struck by injury this season but is determined to make a strong come back in 2008.
Kristy Gillespie finished 3rd in the National Women’s Motocross Championships and won the New Zealand Women’s Championship in 2006. After a couple of tough motos during the 2007 season, Kristy secured 3rd overall in the National Women’s Championship and has recently taken the Championship win for the Victorian Women’s MX Titles. Kristy challenged her New Zealandtitle and picked up a credible 2nd place behind World Women’s Champion, Katherine Prumm. She is well on her way to becoming the countries best ever female rider, and is the national women’s representative on the senior GMR Motorex KTM team.
Justin, Jarrod and Kristy will remain our primary group of assistant coaches and provide consistency and invaluable assistance at each school. Our coaches have been carefully considered and selected on their communication and presentation skills, on bike performances and on the confidence that these individuals will assist in providing a professional service.
